We went to school with Jeff. [ she puts her feet up on the edge of the little coffee table with a shrug. she knows jeff isn't a chatty guy but it still surprises her that nobody seems to know. ] We weren't friends or anything though, no idea why it picked him.

Maybe there's something to it — a face with no mouth for a girl who spent almost her whole life feeling like she could never say what was on her mind except to the rest of legion, like they were the only people she could be herself around — but even if she was willing to do that kind of introspection, julie's certainly not willing to say that much to quentin. ]

Part of him knows, seen the signs, heard of them but it’s been put off. Like sleep. Something that can’t be denied forever. He shakes his head dismissively and rubs at his own face. ]
